Frequently Asked Questions

Naturopathic medicine is a form of medicine that is based on the following principles:
First Do No Harm / Primum Non Nocere
The Healing Power of Nature / Vis Medicatrix Naturae
Identify and Treat the Causes / Tolle Causam
Doctor as Teacher / Docere
Treat the Whole Person / Tolle Totum
Prevention / Praevenire
Naturopathic doctors aim to find the root cause of conditions and symptoms. They are trained to care for patients in a way that is preventative, by promoting longevity and optimization through correcting internal imbalances at the foundation level, rather than providing quick-fixes for symptoms and conditions.

Dr. Lana Wellness is a cash-pay practice and therefore does not accept insurance as a form of payment. Patients are responsible for the full appointment fee at the time of service.
If the patient wishes to use insurance, then it is the sole responsibility of the patient to contact their insurance company and determine eligibility.
We cannot guarantee that you will be reimbursed, nor can we provide support for reimbursement issues, as each insurance plan is unique. We encourage you to contact your plan to understand your coverage and reimbursement.
How the process works:
After the visit is complete and paid in full, a Superbill detailing the service, the codes associated, and the full cost of service on the date of service can be shared with patients upon request. This Superbill will then be submitted by the patient to insurance for potential reimbursement purposes.
Reimbursement is determined by individual healthcare policies, not by Dr. Lana Wellness.

Due to licensure restrictions in New York State, Dr. Lana is unable to prescribe medication to patients. Naturopaths who practice in states that license Naturopathic Doctors are able to prescribe certain medications on a state-by-state basis.

Sessions are administered in a comfortable room with soft lighting and relaxing music or other ambient noise.
Our licensed acupuncturists will examine the patient and assess their condition by asking a series of thought-provoking questions and often look at the patientβs tongue and check their pulse.
Patients may stay clothed or disrobe if they prefer a sheet to drape over themselves, exposing only the area that will have needles inserted (often arms, lower legs, abdomen, back, or the head).
Depending on the planned protocol, the patient will lie down on their back, front, or side.
The acupuncturist will use single-use, disposable, sterile needles. Sometimes the needles are heated with moxa or stimulated with electricity after insertion. The patient is then made comfortable with blankets to stay warm, infrared heat lamps, and pillows to support the body. Patients then relax with needles in and/or cups for between 20-45 minutes.
The practitioner will return (throughout the session upon request) and remove the needles, answering any questions the patient may have and offering suggestions for the rest of the day (e.g., to drink plenty of water, eat specific foods, and generally try to have a restful day).
Pain relief + mood elevation may be immediate or occur later in the day or overnight. Best results are usually seen after 48 hours.
