NATUROPATHIC VS. TRADITIONAL APPROACHES TO INFERTILITY
Naturopathic medicine is a comprehensive approach to improve fertility from the ground up. Rather than work to override or overcome suboptimal fertility through pricey treatments like IVF (in vitro fertilization) or IUI (intrauterine insemination), naturopathic medicine, nutritional counseling and acupuncture aim to improve fertility whenever and wherever possible so that those expensive interventions may either yield improved results or in the most natural of instances, are able to be avoided altogether.

Common Questions about Naturopathic Approaches to Infertility

All cases are different. Dr. Lana will be working on your egg quality with supplements and/or acupuncture for as long as it may take to see progress. It is important to understand that your follicles have a maturation process that can take up to or more than 90 days (3 months) in the ovary. It may take this amount of time to achieve benefits for egg quality, though you may see improvements along the way. Treatment time may vary for other conditions, so feel free to contact the office with questions.

Many patients schedule with Dr. Lana before trying to conceive to prime their bodies for the upcoming baby. Other patients wait until they’re into their third round of IVF or even after a third miscarriage. Anytime is a good time to get your body back in balance and will undoubtedly benefit the baby.

We do not have a quantifying system for success rates as every patient receiving care is in a different situation – age, diagnosis (or lack thereof), pre-existing health conditions and/or stage of pharmaceutical treatment protocols. However, studies show that acupuncture can dramatically improve fertility, and it makes perfect sense that lifestyle changes and supplementation can also influence hormonal imbalances and fertility.

An easy thing to start immediately is increasing your organic produce consumption. Antioxidants are a critical factor in both egg and sperm health, and the best sources are vegetables and fruits! Also, try to engage in activities that reduce your stress levels, as high stress contributes to hormonal imbalances.
